Homicide                                                          10/13/2015

New Braunfels, Texas — The New Braunfels Police Department is actively investigating a homicide that occurred during the early morning hours of today’s date (Oct. 13, 2015).
At approximately 2:25am, officers on routine patrol in the area of I-35 and Rucekle Road spotted a suspicious vehicle that was stopped in the middle of the parking lot of Pit Stop #2 (3200 block of I-35 South - northbound frontage road). Officers approached the vehicle and observed that the engine was still running and the male driver was slumped over in the driver’s seat, possibly asleep or passed out. After several unsuccessful attempts were made to wake the man, it was determined that he was not breathing so officers pulled him from the vehicle and began life saving measures. That was when it was discovered that the man had been shot. New Braunfels Fire and EMS units on scene then determined that the victim was deceased. He has since been identified as 43-year old Domingo Perez Jr. of New Braunfels and next of kin has been notified.
New Braunfels Police detectives were called to the scene to begin a homicide investigation. They are currently interviewing witnesses, following up on leads, and searching for evidence. As part of that ongoing investigation, an arrest warrant for Murder has been issued for 23-year old Federico Trejo Jr. and bond has been set at $500,000.
If you have information about the whereabouts of Trejo, or other information that could be helpful to the ongoing homicide investigation, call NBPD or leave an anonymous tip with Comal County Crime Stoppers, which is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest and/or grand jury indictment. That reward is only valid for the next 30 days and will expire on Nov. 12, 2015. To remain anonymous and to collect the reward, contact Crime Stoppers at 830-620-TIPS (8477), leave a tip online at http://comalcrimestoppers.org/, or text a tip by texting “Comal” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

Theft

Theft of personal Property                                            09/12/2015

New Braunfels, Texas — The New Braunfels Police Department is warning residents to be extra watchful of valuables while at local gym facilities.
In recent weeks, NBPD has received a rising number of theft reports from local workout facilities. Many of those reports are for wallets or purses being stolen, and in several cases the credit/debit cards inside are used almost immediately to run up hundreds of dollars in charges at other stores. The thefts often happen when the victim leaves their purse unattended (even for just a few moments), or when items are left inside a dressing room locker.
These thefts are not exclusive to gym facilities here in New Braunfels, with similar thefts occurring along the I-35 corridor (from San Antonio to San Marcos) along with other jurisdictions throughout the state.
Detectives believe at least some of those thefts are part of a larger organized criminal effort targeting workout facilities.

NBPD advises patrons of those facilities to leave valuables at home if at all possible. If not, then be sure to secure your valuables in the trunk of your car or in a dressing room locker equipped with your own lock.

The investigation into these thefts is ongoing, with detectives seeking out surveillance video from local gyms and the stores where the credit/debit cards were used.

If you have seen or have any knowledge of these crimes and can identify the person or persons involved It could be worth up to Two Thousand dollars if you report it to Comal County Crime Stoppers.  You may Contact Crime Stoppers by calling 830-620-TIPS (8477), leave a tip online at http://comalcrimestoppers.org/, or text a tip by texting “Comal” plus your message to CRIMES (274637)
